Process
Phase 1 | Empathize
Problem
1,000 bicyclists die and 130,000 bicyclists are injured due to road accidents in the United States every year.
In the last 5 years a total of 50% of bicycle fatalities occurred in the dark.
“How might we improve accident prevention among bicycle riders whilst providing an engaging and safe commuting experience?”
Problem Statement
Phase 2 | Define
We identified user needs and insights based on interviews with target users. We approached individuals in Savannah due to its significant population of daily bicycle users.

Warp is a compact bike-mounted device that pairs with a mobile app, projecting vital information on the road by relaying information collected through image and data processing. It prevents accidents caused by irregular road surfaces by collecting data on road conditions.
Solution
Device Pairing
Pair warp device with the app using Bluetooth.
Navigation
Alerts on hazardous riding conditions.
Settings
Personalize your Warp device in the settings tab.
User Profile
View ride stats, ride history and edit profile details.

Phase 5 | Test
Concept testing and validation was done to prove that the technology used is applicable for the use case in consideration.
Concept Testing & Validation
-
Using this method I learnt to develop a business plan template that helps us validate business ideas quickly and efficiently. It developed my skills in user-centric problem solving, market research, value proposition design, strategic thinking, and gave me a holistic understanding of product development.
-
This strategy encourages us to create new market spaces or "blue oceans" that are uncontested by competition, as opposed to fighting over existing market space or "red oceans." Developing a strategic and innovative mindset was crucial while implementing this method for the purpose of capitalizing on new opportunities in the digital landscape.
-
Concept validation deepened my understanding of how image processing technology could be leveraged to meet user needs effectively. Feasibility of the concept was also realized through the prototyping and testing of this concept.
